OUT OF CHARACTER TEAM

We have Mods and Admins available to help out when OOC issues arise, to offer ongoing education and support to those both new and old RPers to the experience of RP in SL Gor.

(Extract of the OOC Roleplayer Standards)

4.         To foster a close-knit family community that also provides ongoing education and involvement of those both old and new to the experience of role-playing in Gor and Second Life.

5.         To teach and learn from one another about the ways of Gor in its many aspects according to John Norman’s BTB Gor where fellowship and honor are the cornerstones of day-to-day life.

6.         To uphold quality before quantity.

7.         We are legitimately known to remove members who fail to uphold these principles.

VOLUNTEERED ROLEPLAY MENTORS

All new to Gor members in the family group will be offered an OOC RP mentor for one RL month, to teach them about Gor, through chats, websites, notecards, or by recommending a NTG class at the Gorean Campus. We never share notecards with the books of John Norman. Mentors will guide the person to purchase the books in online bookstores, or to listen to the audio books available in the Gorean Campus website. Mentors can also mail them a book. Mentors can also assist them with RP skills.  Main purpose here is to help them and to not judge them. Everybody was new at one point.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact a Group Admin to find out the requirements and evaluation process! We'd thank you greatly!

GROUP MODERATORS: Moderators are here to uphold the OOC STANDARDS FOR ROLEPLAYERS for the family group. They will base all their judgments on the written rules of the code. To foster a community of communication, education, and consistency. And finally, if they cannot handle a situation calmly, they will hand it to another mod or an Admin.

ASSISTANCE: Moderators are here to answer your questions and/or direct you to the group Admin who can further assist you; to aid in getting you integrated into the roleplay community. Moderators are to hear your concerns and forward any trends, topics, and ideas from the member base to the Admins.

Have a question about the rules? Wish something was different? Want to bring up something but are a bit too shy to do so yourself? Your Mod is there to help in all manners of negotiations with the Group Admins!

SLAVE INVITATIONS: Moderators are allowed to invite slaves into the group. They can provide guidance in IC family rules and how they should be correctly implemented if their advice is requested.

GROUP CHAT WATCH: Moderators are the family group chats referees. If someone has broken the OOC STANDARDS FOR ROLEPLAYERS with themselves or another in the house group, the person will receive one warning from a Mod, only one. A second time, the person will need to assure the moderator of the chat that you will not repeat the offense. On the third time you will be forwarded to a group Admin for a final decision.  Moderators have the right to request an Admin to eject a roleplayer from the main group.

MODERATIONS: Before you contact a Moderator, have a copy of UNEDITED logs and make sure you provide a summary of the issue at the top of the notecard, so the Mod knows what to look for. Keep in mind, our Moderators only deal with issues regarding the OOC STANDARDS FOR ROLEPLAYERS. We are NOT Moderators of any sim.

If you are interested in becoming a Moderator please contact an Admin. If you come with a lot of moderating experience please let us know, that would be a plus! We also offer training!

REPORTS: Moderators also offer a weekly or biweekly report to Admins if there are any OOC conflicts in the group for that week. Communication is vital.

GROUP ADMINISTRATORS

The Founders of the group and OOC writers of the majority of family storylines. This team is composed of the oldest veteran members and carefully selected members of the group. The way to becoming a Group Administrator is filled with many tests towards you as a roleplayer, your ability to separate OOC from IC and be able to remain impartial when it comes to making final decisions concerning the group and where it stands. These individuals have created the name Forstander, and every other name of all Minor Houses within the Great House. There are always more characters being written and made available. Ideas revised, polished and perfected. The beautiful process is never over.

GROUP MEMBERSHIP

1. Administrators handle new Free member applicants, schedule interviews and accept new Free members in to the group. When new members are accepted to join the family it’s because they have successfully passed the recruitment process and are now going to roleplay one of the characters from the many we have available in the Houses. Probably kith from a sworn house or a blood related kin. Applications are only for roleplayers who are coming in the family to play new characters. Other roleplayers outside of HoF will be admitted into the main group if they are kith or have any relation to the family or our roleplay. These roleplayers will not require an application. One more time, any outside kith or conjugal kith who is simply joining the group because he or she is friend of a member or by Companionship; is not required to fill up an application. An Admin will send the person a group invite at the proper time.

Admins can also recruit for your house if you request it. We are always recruiting new members! And you as the father or mother of the child, daughter, son, sister, brother role you need filled, you can be present during the interview process!

ROLEPLAY MODERATIONS/SITUATIONS: When a Moderator hands over a situation they are unable to handle to an Admin, the following can occur:

a.      If the IC RP situation has the need to come over to an Admin is because it has become an overwhelming OOC problem. It will be dealt with accordingly to our OOC STANDARDS FOR ROLEPLAYERS.

b.      The Admin will evaluate the situation, speak with the parties involved, troubleshoot solutions and encourage the family council to try again and keep the situation IC!

c.       If the Admin observes the situation cannot be successfully handled by the IC family council nor the OOC Mods, the Admin team will commute and handle the situation to make decisions that will be FINAL.

WHICH MEANS: For any IC issues that for some reason cannot be handled by the IC Family Council and end up becoming way too OOC, way too much drama, members start leaving the group as a result of it, people stop talking to each other etc. If this situation comes to the ears of the Group Admins, any repercussions will be final. The family council is supposed to handle as much as they can In Character, diplomatically through the way BTB GOREANS would handle family matters. That is why we have IC family laws, rules, and a political system.

EXAMPLE: When there is an RP issue a sim Mod is called. The Mod tries their best to make sure the issue is solved IC and kept IC. When this can't be done then the Mod will inform the sim owners. A sim is a roleplay community. This family is a roleplay community. They are not the same, but still are roleplay communities. Remember,

(Excerpt from the OOC Standards for Roleplayers)

1.         For each member to provide and be provided with high quality role-play, free of OOC drama.

2.         Where EVERYONE is aware of the difference between IC drama and OOC drama.

6.         To uphold quality before quantity.

8.         Roleplay is a team sport that only persists when people who think alike come to SL Gor to share the same dream: to provide the best political roleplay, challenge our limits, and develop our characters and our family every second of the game.

EVENTS & PLOTLINES

Administrators are there for you to bring storyline ideas, events, and roleplay ideas to them. They will assist you in fleshing out your concept more fully and making it presentable to submit your major family plotline/event for approval and then see it come to fruition!
